Big news for Amazon Prime members! The FTC secured a massive $2.5 billion settlement against Amazon over deceptive Prime signup and cancellation practices. $1.5 billion goes directly to consumers as refunds, with payouts capped at $51 per person.
Who's Eligible:
- Anyone who signed up for or tried to cancel Prime between June 23, 2019 and June 23, 2025
- Check your eligibility in your Amazon account under Memberships and Subscriptions > Payment history
How to Claim:
- Wave 1 (Automatic): Users with "challenged enrollment" who used 3 or fewer Prime benefits get the full $51 automatically within 90 days
- Wave 2 (Manual Claims): File your claim at the official settlement website - you'll need your Claim ID and PIN from email/mail
What's a "Challenged Enrollment?"
- Universal Prime Decision Page, Shipping Option Select Page, Prime Video enrollment, or Single Page Checkout flows
Most active Prime users will likely need to file manual claims since they've used more than 3 benefits. The settlement also requires Amazon to stop deceptive enrollment practices going forward.
